LEVEL 1 :: INTRO TO WATER SKILLS ~ CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Level 1: Intro to Water Skills (ages 5 & up) :: This class helps students feel comfortable in the water. Level 1 participants work on learning to enter and exit water safely, open eyes underwater, pick up submerged object, swim on front and back using arm and leg actions, submerge mouth, nose and eyes. Parents are not in the water with Level 1 students during class, but may join the optional free swim time after class with their little swimmer to help them further practice their new skills!

NOTE: For afternoon classes, you may arrive anytime after 1:30PM (pools are closed 1:30-2PM) on the day of class. Class registrations include free swim time; relaxation time on the grounds, by the creek, etc.; and access to the cafe (if the cafe is open–currently this is TBD, staffing dependent). Free swim time is ONLY available if a parent/guardian is also in the pool swimming AND within arms' reach of their child at all times

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS:

Sarah Brady is a long-time swim teacher, and holds certifications as a WSI instructor and as a Red Cross Lifeguard with CPR/AED/First Aid. A Sonoma native, Sarah's love of water began at a young age, growing up swimming on swim teams throughout school and playing water polo in high school. For over 25 years she's been teaching youth here in our valley about water safety, skills and fun! Sarah is loved by many families and students and shares, "I can honestly say that I love my job." She's honored to teach swim lessons throughout the area as well as here at Morton's with our 2025 pilot program!

Cindy Barker has been instructing in and out of the water 40 plus years. She up in San Francisco swimming at Sava Pool and Fleishhackers pool before moving to Sonoma County at age 9 where she swam competitively for the Santa Rosa Neptunes, Santa Rosa High School and briefly for SRJC. Cindy has a great love of the water, the students, and watching the kids excel at all swim levels. Cindy also came to Morton's as a youngster and is grateful to be a part of the Morton's community!
